Catering Account Manager
Premium Food Service Provider - Devon
JWR is currently working on an exciting opportunity with a leading, premium food service provider based in the Devon area, looking to recruit an experienced Catering Account Manager to support and drive the business forwards, focusing on their key accounts within the Education sector.
The main purpose of the job is to ensure that the deployment of the Catering offer happens smoothly and efficiently for schools across the client's portfolio, and for any new schools joining, in a secure and safe manner where the pupils and their safety and well-being come first. This is achieved through training of school staff, reviewing and where necessary the introduction of new processes in their kitchens and through the rigorous checking of products, nutrition and allergens going into school menus.
Our client is looking for an exceptional chef / catering manager with experience from a quality fresh food background, that will support the business in delivering the efficient deployment and management of the companies produce within schools, with a focus on delivering 'a revolution' of the food currently being served in schools for pupils.
Main Responsibilities:
- Actively work with schools to produce bespoke menus and meals
- Identify, through the information given by the school, any children with allergies.
- To create new and exciting bespoke menus, specific to allergen requirements at each school and for every pupil.
- To design and deliver menus in accordance with government guidelines.
- To ensure that all menus produced are fully allergen checked.
- To effectively demonstrate the use of the freshest ingredients to cook restaurant quality meals in schools.
- To promote the ethos of healthy eating and provide nutritionally balanced, wholesome food in accordance with government food guidelines.
- Assess and develop kitchen staffs' cookery skills through use of best practice training, demonstration, and advice.
- Advise the school regarding the training and personal development of staff within all school catering departments.
- Maintain training records, deliver induction and advise on appraisal processes
- Support the development and delivery of the quality catering operation across schools, providing excellent customer service, and providing training where necessary.
- To ensure all aspects of relevant legislation are complied with on all sites, specifically, in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Food Safety Act 1990, H.A.C.C.P and C.O.S.H.H.
- Manage accounts to ensure schools are cost neutral as a minimum through auditing, regular conversations regarding waste/surplus/portion control, and training for ordering.
- Ensure schools receive the correct produce, both product and quantity, as per the provision.
Desirable Skills
- Ability to develop and empower others appropriately using a range of motivational skills.
- Previous culinary/catering experience (3+ years).
- Experience of target setting and performance measurement.
- Catering experience in an educational setting
- Experience of managing catering accounts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Open, approachable, facilitative and persuasive.
- Able to work effectively with colleagues from a range of backgrounds.
- Good IT skills including Word, Excel, Outlook
- CIEH Level 3 in Food Safety in Catering or equivalent.
