IMMEDIATE START
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Sommelier/Head Of Beverage needed to join a high end fine dining restaurant in The City areas. The client is proud of their strong customer relationships and friendly atmosphere with a high focus is on delivering standards and service. They are now looking for a strong senior Sommelier who has a similar funky background working in a fast paced fine dining environment.
Job Description
As a Head Sommelier/ Head Of Beverage you will be responsible for:
- Recommending wine varieties to our guests
- Involved in all elements of stock control
- Create and update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the General Manager
- Organize wine tasting days
- Experience in table service from a high end fine dining restaurant
- Recommend food and wine pairings
- Managing the bar team
- Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware
- Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices
- In charge of all the beverage program
- Manage wine cellar and ensure it's fully-stocked
- Training and developing staff
- Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices
- Working under pressure
- Negotiate purchase prices with vendors
- Be able to think on your feet in order to solve problems
The Ideal candidate will be:
- An experienced Head Sommelier with at least 3/4 years working in a similar fine dining funky/trendy high end quality restaurant
- Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings
- Able to run busy shifts
- Be able to manage & motivate the team
- Understanding of the wine making process
- Experience in Italian wines would be an advantage
- Must be flexible on running different shift patterns including weekends & bank holidays
- Experience working towards targets
- Focus on attention to detail
- Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries
- Dealing with senior Managers and Directors
- Certification as a Sommelier/WSET or degree in hospitality is a plus
- Passionate about quality of service & standards
- Friendly and upbeat personality
The ideal candidate will have great organisational skills along with the passion and commitment in driving excellent service to the clientele and a proven track record in a funky/trendy high end quality fine dining restaurant.
