HR Manager - Luxury Country House Hotel & Spa | near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire | c£50,000 + 10% Bonus
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Manager to join a stunning 4-star country house hotel and spa in Buckinghamshire.
This is a genuinely standalone HR position with responsibility for supporting and developing a team of approximately 126 employees. Reporting into the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and delivering the hotel's people strategy, while remaining highly hands-on across employee relations, learning and development and day-to-day HR.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced hotel HR professional who enjoys being visible, accessible and closely connected to the operation.
The Role
- Take full ownership of the hotel's HR function and people strategy
- Provide trusted HR support and guidance to the General Manager and senior leadership team
- Lead on all aspects of employee relations, including performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance processes
- Develop and deliver an effective learning and development strategy
- Identify training needs and implement programmes that support both individual and organisational development
- Support managers in building strong, engaged and high-performing teams
- Drive employee engagement, culture and retention initiatives
- Review and improve HR policies, processes and procedures
- Support recruitment, onboarding and talent development across the hotel
- Develop succession planning and career development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and best HR practice
- Use HR data, employee feedback and operational insight to identify opportunities for improvement
- Be a visible presence across the hotel, building strong relationships with colleagues at all levels
- Work closely with the leadership team to ensure the people strategy supports the wider commercial and operational objectives of the hotel
About You
We are looking for an experienced hotel HR professional who is confident operating independently and has the credibility to work closely with senior operational leaders.
Essential:
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent
- Previous experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or similar senior HR position within the hotel sector
- Strong and demonstrable employee relations experience
- Excellent understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice
- Proven experience developing and delivering L&D initiatives
- Strong coaching and influencing skills
- Commercially aware with a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Confident working autonomously as the sole HR lead
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for people, culture and employee development
