New UK Hotels Opening in 2021
Three UK hotel openings to keep an eye on during 2021
2020 will, for the vast majority of those involved in the hospitality sector, be regarded as a year to forget. Most establishments were forced to close for nearly the entire year, meaning hundreds of thousands of bookings had to be cancelled, all of which led to widespread financial concerns.
While 2021 has yet to see the UK emerge from its third national lockdown, the ongoing vaccine rollout has given many businesses hope that they will be able to open up sooner rather than later, and this feeling of relative positivity has only been heightened in the wake of a number of announcements from new and exciting openings around the country.
With more and more UK residents looking to take holidays on home soil – research has found that around 84 per cent of Brits will likely book a ‘staycation’ in 2021 – it would seem that, when the sector is allowed to operate again, the hospitality sector will be inundated with requests.
So, with that very firmly in mind, let’s take a look at three of the most interesting – and altogether intriguing – new hotels that you should be aware of over the coming 12 months.
The Albion, Ceredigion, Wales
This area of Wales is famed for its incredible camping sites, largely because of the unique geography and topography of the region, but from February 2021 it will be possible to drink in the views without having to sleep in a tent. The Albion, a 23-room hotel that will soon be open for business, is located in a property that used to be a warehouse, and both the interior and exterior have been designed to portray the town’s impressive – and often overlooked – maritime history.
NoMad, Covent Garden, London
NoMad has been talked about for a number of years, but in April 2021, it will finally be open for business. This luxury hotel has sister establishments in New York and Las Vegas and has designed to be as cool as it is exclusive. Not only will the hotel be home to over 1,500 pieces of art, but it will contain within it a cocktail bar, restaurants, and a pub serving an array of ‘agave-based drinks’, which, if nothing else, is a fascinating concept.
The Graduate, Oxford and Cambridge, England
It should come as no surprise that both iterations of The Graduate have been designed to honour the historic educational establishments in Oxford and Cambridge. The interiors are heavily influenced by the institutions themselves, complete with mortar boards, rowing oars and subtle homages to former students.
