Safest Staycation Locations Revealed

List of ‘safest’ staycation locations revealed for summer 2021

The success of the UK’s Covid-19 vaccination programme has given millions of people hope that they will be able to get away and experience something akin to a ‘normal’ holiday this summer.

Numerous reports released in recent months support the idea that 2021 will see record numbers of people take their holidays in the UK, with the idea of staycations seen as a safer, more affordable and more convenient holidaying option than ever before.

Not only is the staycation boom liable to bolster the economies of various areas that have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is going to be a figurative shot in the arm for all those that work in the hospitality sector, be that in restaurants, hotels, pubs, cafes or bars.

The idea of staycations has many people very excited, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have already booked days off to ensure that they will be able to get some well-deserved time away from their homes, they are now turning their attention to exactly where they should visit.

The ‘Safecation Report’, recently released by Money.co.uk, has utilised a comprehensive list of factors to determine the ‘safest’ locations to take a staycation this summer. In this instance, safest is taken to mean the places that are best placed to afford individuals a holiday that enables easy social distancing, while also offering plenty of activities, open space, as well as a great selection of hotels and restaurants.

The factors used include the availability of contactless payments in the area, the number of beaches that are available for public use within the vicinity, the cost of car parking, the number of areas that are dog friendly, as well as crime rates, average number of visitors and the number of activities that can be done without having to pay a penny.

According to the list, the top 10 staycation locations are:

1. Gower (South Wales)
2. Keswick (Lake District)
3. Kilwinning (North Ayrshire)
4. Armagh (County Armagh)
5. Northwich (Cheshire)
6. Motherwell (North Lanarkshire)
7. Isle of Harris (Outer Hebrides)
8. Milford (Surrey)
9. Leigh (Greater Manchester)
10. Windsor (Berkshire)

Such lists are, of course, somewhat subjective, and by using other factors it is likely that other places would be able to declare themselves the ‘safest’ in the UK. What is certain, however, is that all establishments in the hospitality sector are currently readying themselves for what will be an incredibly important summer, and will be doing absolutely everything in their power to keep employees and visitors as safe as possible.
