Leading International Hotel Brand
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a commercially driven Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the sales strategy at one of London's largest conference and group-focused hotels.
This newly renovated, dual-branded property offers over 500 bedrooms and a substantial conference and events facility, including one of the capital's largest pillar-free ballrooms accommodating up to 1,200 guests. The hotel benefits from strong corporate, international, MICE and leisure demand streams and is positioned as a key player within its competitive London market.
The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Sales will take full ownership of the hotel's commercial performance, driving strategy across:
- Meetings & Events
- Corporate & Consortia
- Group & Leisure
- International markets
- Brand marketing & positioning
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and proactive sales engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and implement the full Sales & Marketing strategy
- Deliver and exceed revenue targets across bedrooms, M&E and F&B
- Lead all Corporate and Consortia RFP activity
- Drive RevPAR, ADR, occupancy and total revenue growth
- Conduct regular competitor analysis and market benchmarking
- Align strategy with brand standards and revenue management direction
Proactive Sales Leadership
- Identify, prospect and secure new corporate, MICE, leisure and local accounts
- Lead client meetings, site inspections and contract negotiations
- Represent the hotel at national and international trade shows and sales missions
- Organise and host FAM trips
- Build strong relationships with global agents, tour operators and corporate partners
- Maintain a strong, conversion-focused sales pipeline
Marketing & Brand Positioning
- Develop and execute impactful marketing campaigns aligned to short- and long-term business objectives
- Drive audience growth and brand awareness
- Work closely with distribution partners and creative teams
- Lead in-house promotional and client engagement events
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, inspire and develop the Sales & Marketing team
- Create a proactive, high-performance sales culture
- Establish and monitor clear KPIs including revenue growth, account acquisition and pipeline conversion
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations and Revenue teams
- Contribute to performance-based incentive structures
Guest & Operational Focus
- Champion a guest-centric commercial approach
- Work closely with operational leaders to ensure seamless delivery of large-scale events and VIP groups
- Analyse customer feedback to drive continuous improvement
About You
We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales or senior commercial leader from a large, conference-led hotel environment.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven success in driving significant MICE and group revenue
- Experience within large-scale conference hotels (500+ bedrooms preferred)
- Strong leadership and team development capability
- Excellent negotiation and account management skills
- Strategic thinking combined with hands-on delivery
- Experience managing structured sales systems and CRM platforms
- Background within a recognised branded hotel environment
