Description

Interior Designer & Project Manager
Cornwall & Devon | Multi-Site
JWR is recruiting for an experienced Interior Designer & Project Manager to join a growing hospitality group operating a collection of hotels, spas, restaurants and leisure facilities across Cornwall and Devon.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines a strong creative eye with the practical project management skills needed to take refurbishment and development projects from initial concept right through to completion.
This is not a purely creative design position.
Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will take ownership of interior design, refurbishment and property enhancement projects across a varied hospitality portfolio, ensuring each project is delivered to the right standard, on time and within budget.

The Package

  • £40,000 - £45,000 salary
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Multi-site role across Cornwall and Devon
  • Hotel, restaurant and spa discounts
  • Complimentary off-peak gym and spa membership
  • Friends and family hotel rates
  • Employee wellbeing support
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Recognition and long-service rewards
  • Opportunity to have a genuine influence over the design and development of a growing hospitality portfolio

The Role
You will be responsible for:

  • Developing interior design concepts across bedrooms, restaurants, bars, public areas, spas and other hospitality spaces
  • Creating mood boards, presentations, specifications and design proposals
  • Selecting FF&E, lighting, artwork, fabrics, finishes and materials
  • Managing refurbishment and capital projects from initial brief through to completion
  • Preparing and controlling project budgets, programmes and timelines
  • Coordinating architects, contractors, consultants and suppliers
  • Managing tender processes and supplier selection
  • Conducting site inspections and project progress meetings
  • Managing project costs and identifying value-engineering opportunities
  • Scheduling works to minimise disruption to guests and hotel operations
  • Managing snagging and ensuring defects are resolved
  • Supporting feasibility work for future developments and acquisitions
  • Reviewing spaces and operational flow to identify opportunities to improve both guest experience and commercial performance
  • Developing strong relationships with contractors and suppliers across the region

Requirements
We are looking for someone with proven experience delivering interior projects within hospitality, hotels, leisure, spas or another high-quality commercial environment.
You will ideally have:

  • Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience
  • Strong project management experience from concept through to completion
  • Experience delivering refurbishment and development projects
  • Excellent budget management and cost-control skills
  • Strong understanding of construction and refurbishment processes
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers and other external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • A strong understanding of how design impacts both customer experience and commercial performance
  • Full UK driving licence

Experience working with luxury hotels, spas, listed buildings, FF&E procurement, planning applications or sustainable design would be particularly advantageous.
This would suit an Interior Designer who wants greater ownership of project delivery, or an experienced Design/Project Manager who still enjoys being closely involved in the creative side of hospitality design.
