Role Overview
Our client is seeking a driven and commercially focused Conference & Events Sales Executive to join their hotel sales team in Hertfordshire. This role is primarily responsible for managing reactive B2B enquiries for conference, meeting, and corporate event business, while also proactively generating new revenue opportunities within the local and regional market.
The successful candidate will be target-driven, organised, and passionate about delivering exceptional service from initial enquiry through to event confirmation. This position plays a key role in achieving the hotel's conference revenue targets and overall sales strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Reactive Sales (Primary Focus)
- Manage all incoming B2B conference and event enquiries via phone, email, and online channels.
- Respond to enquiries within agreed SLA timelines.
- Conduct needs analysis to understand client objectives and propose tailored solutions.
- Prepare and present detailed proposals and contracts.
- Conduct site visits and client show rounds.
- Negotiate rates and packages in line with revenue strategy.
- Convert enquiries to confirmed bookings, maximising revenue opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM and PMS systems.
- Handover confirmed events effectively to the operations team.
Proactive Sales
- Identify and target new corporate clients within Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
- Conduct outbound sales calls and prospecting activity to generate new enquiries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and agencies.
- Attend networking events and represent the hotel in the local market.
- Work closely with the Head of Sales to implement sales campaigns and action plans.
- Develop repeat and retained business within key accounts.
Revenue & Target Responsibility
- Achieve monthly and annual conference & events revenue targets.
- Monitor conversion rates and actively improve performance.
- Upsell additional services including catering, accommodation, AV, and upgrades.
- Contribute to overall hotel occupancy and F&B revenue through event business.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in hotel conference & events sales or B2B sales.
- Strong commercial awareness and target-driven mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple enquiries simultaneously.
- Proficiency in CRM and hotel booking systems.
