General Manager - Dual-Site Hotel Operation

East Sussex | £60,000-£65,000 + Bonus + Benefits

A genuinely exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and hands-on General Manager to take responsibility for two boutique hotel properties within the same ownership group.

With a combined bedroom stock of approximately 36 rooms, excellent food offering and a projected T/O of £3m 60/40 split F&B to Rooms, this is a unique opportunity for a hotel leader who enjoys being close to the operation, visible to guests and colleagues, and who wants to have a genuine influence on the future direction of two individual properties.

The hotels are entering an exciting period of repositioning and refurbishment, making this a particularly interesting appointment for someone who enjoys change, improvement and creating a stronger commercial proposition.

The Opportunity

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from behind a desk.

You will have genuine operational ownership across both properties, working closely with the owners to improve standards, develop the teams and maximise the commercial performance of the business.

A key part of the role will be supporting the repositioning and refurbishment programme, ensuring that the guest experience, operational standards and commercial performance evolve alongside the physical product.

This could also be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager or Hotel Manager who is ready to take their first step into a GM position.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full operational responsibility for both hotel properties
• Lead and develop the teams across both locations
• Work closely with ownership on the repositioning and refurbishment strategy
• Drive improvements in guest experience, service standards and operational consistency
• Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability
• Take ownership of budgets, forecasting, payroll and cost control
• Develop a strong commercial culture across the operation
• Recruit, coach and retain talented hospitality professionals
• Be highly visible and hands-on across both properties
• Manage refurbishment projects from an operational perspective, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and the wider business
• Build strong relationships with guests, suppliers and local partners
• Ensure both properties are presented to the highest possible standard
• Establish clear operational procedures and accountability across the teams

About You

We're looking for a confident hotel operator who enjoys making things happen.

You may already be a General Manager, or you could be an experienced Operations Manager, Hotel Manager or Deputy GM ready to take that next step.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience within a boutique, independent or lifestyle hotel environment
• A proven track record of repositioning, refurbishing or improving hotel operations
• Strong commercial and financial awareness
• Excellent people leadership skills
• A hands-on, visible management style
• The confidence to work closely with owners and senior stakeholders
• Experience managing change and raising operational standards
• A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience
• The energy and resilience required to manage two properties
• A practical, solutions-focused approach rather than a "that's how we've always done it" mentality
