Management Couple
JWR is recruiting on behalf of an established independent hospitality business for an experienced Management Couple to take responsibility for a characterful pub with rooms.
This is a hands-on, varied operation combining a busy traditional bar, quality casual dining and guest accommodation, with a strong mix of local trade and staying guests.
We are ideally looking for a couple where one person brings strong General Manager / pub operations experience and the other is an experienced Head Chef capable of taking ownership of the kitchen and developing a consistent, commercially successful food offering.Package

The General Manager
You will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running and commercial performance of the business, creating a welcoming pub atmosphere while ensuring consistently high standards across the rooms and wider operation.
Responsibilities will include:- Bar and front-of-house operations
- Guest accommodation and customer experience
- Driving food and beverage sales
- Building and maintaining strong local trade
- Events, promotions and seasonal activity
- Team recruitment, training and development
- Revenue, payroll and cost control
- Stock management and wet GP
- Sales and local business development
- Health & safety and operational compliance
- Maintaining the overall standards and presentation of the property
This is very much a visible, hands-on role. You should enjoy being behind the bar, engaging with customers, supporting the team and becoming part of the local community while maintaining a strong commercial focus.
The Head Chef
You will take ownership of the kitchen and food operation, delivering a quality, accessible pub and bistro-style menu that appeals to both local customers and staying guests.
You will be responsible for:- Breakfast, Lunch and evening food service
- Pub classics, lighter dishes and seasonal menus
- Menu development and specials
- Maintaining consistent food quality and presentation
- Food GP, purchasing and stock control
- Kitchen recruitment, training and development
- Managing labour and operating costs
- Food safety and compliance
- Working closely with the General Manager to develop the overall food and beverage business
We are looking for a strong all-round chef who understands that a successful pub food operation needs to balance quality, consistency, value and commerciality.
About You
This opportunity would suit an established hospitality management couple who enjoy the personality and pace of a pub environment and are looking for a long-term position where you can genuinely take ownership of a business.
Experience within a quality pub with rooms, coaching inn, food-led pub or similar independent hospitality operation would be particularly relevant.
You will both need to be hands-on, commercially aware and comfortable working closely together while taking ownership of your respective areas.
