The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will take responsibility for maintaining the hotel, plant, equipment and building services to the highest possible standards.
You will lead the maintenance team, establish effective systems and processes, manage statutory compliance and ensure preventative and reactive maintenance programmes are completed efficiently.
Key responsibilities will include:- Leading, developing and managing the hotel's maintenance team
- Creating and maintaining preventative and reactive maintenance schedules
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety, fire safety, water management and building regulations
- Maintaining accurate compliance, training and maintenance records
- Overseeing plant rooms, back-of-house areas, equipment and hotel assets
- Troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and general building issues
- Managing contractors, service agreements, warranties and supplier relationships
- Obtaining quotations and coordinating planned and emergency works
- Monitoring departmental payroll, expenditure and maintenance budgets
- Identifying cost-saving, sustainability and energy-efficiency opportunities
- Preparing maintenance, performance and capital expenditure reports
- Working closely with the General Manager and operational departments
- Supporting the wider hotel operation as Duty Manager when required
The position combines hands-on technical knowledge with leadership, compliance and commercial responsibility.
Requirements
We are looking for an organised and technically capable Maintenance Manager who understands the demands of operating a busy commercial property.
You will ideally have:- Previous maintenance management experience within a hotel, hospitality or similarly complex commercial environment
- Experience leading and developing a maintenance team
- Strong knowledge of health and safety, fire life safety and statutory compliance
- A sound understanding of electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation systems
- Experience creating and managing planned preventative maintenance programmes
- The ability to diagnose faults and coordinate effective repairs
- Experience managing contractors, service contracts and supplier performance
- Strong organisational, communication and budget-management skills
- Confidence using maintenance systems and Microsoft Office applications
- A relevant trade background or professional qualification, although this is desirable rather than essential
You will be calm under pressure, highly organised and comfortable balancing scheduled projects with the unexpected maintenance challenges that arrive in a busy hotel.
